|
Dispatch Six: Dear
EverestNews.com readers, We are just about to get
on the plane and will write you in two days from
Namche, our Canadian friends on Pumori are moving
along nicely... Thanks again for everything you
have been doing! Cheers, DanDispatch: The
Canadian Pumori Expedition team is sitting at Namche Bazaar (3400m)
acclimatizing after their hike from Phakding. Tomorrow they will spend a
rest day acquiring fresh fruit and vegetables for Pumori Base-camp, with
the assistance of their very capable Sidar Jangbu Sherpa. The team will
take another 4 days to reach base-camp at 5400m above Gorak Shep just down
the valley from Everest base-camp. |
|
They plan to establish advanced base-camp about October 10th at 5700m, Camp
I on the Southeast face at 6000m and Camp II on the shoulder at 6600m
providing conditions permit. The team will be in position to make several
summit attempts between the 17th and 20th of October. On this schedule the
team should be back in Kathmandu before the 28th of October.
