Manaslu, at 8163 meters, is the eighth highest
peak in the world. It is located in the
west-central part of Nepal, and our team will
climb it by the original route. |
April, 1 2003 Jeff Justmans April Fools Day
Dispatch
Yesterday, April Fools Day the team did its 1st carry
to Camp 1 at 19,000ft. It is a long day going from BC
to Camp 1. We are all at base camp resting today.
Depending on the weather we will move up to Camp 1 on
April 3rd. Speaking of the weather, it has become
quite predictable. In the morning it is all sunshine,
come afternoon the clouds roll in, in the evening it
usually snows, sometimes a little sometimes a lot.
The
second team consisting of 5 team members will be
leaving Kathmandu on April 3rd. They should arrive at
Base camp sometime around April 13th. Hopefully, our
guard dog Manaslu will take to the other members and
other expeditions visiting the mountain. However, the
little rascal still is reluctant to carry loads to
Camp 1. All he does is roll around in the snow and beg
for table scraps. Everyone is doing great and we will
get back to you once we establish Camp 1.
Hope
all is great!
Ciao-JJ
