Manaslu 2003: Jeff Justman Dispatch
|
|
|
Manaslu, at 8163 meters, is the eighth highest
peak in the world. It is located in the
west-central part of Nepal, and our team will
climb it by the original route. |
Snowing like CRAZY at Base Camp
We
had it coming. Arriving in the Himalayas early has its
pros and cons. For the past 2 days all it has done is
snow. Five feet at base camp to be exact. With the
weather being stubborn, there is no better place to be
than at base camp. The team will definitely be here
for several more days.
I
should have learned from my experience last year on
Dhaulagiri to bring more books! I have already read
the 3 books I brought and the Vanity Fair Magazine
that Sarah Whittaker gave to me before I left. You
see, upon sharing in great detail my infatuation with
Selma Hayek, Sarah gave me one of her back issues of
VF, with guess who on the cover? Thats right! Selma
Hayek! Now faced with nothing to read, I have begun to
decorate my base camp tent.
In
order not to bore you with dispatches over the next
few days, which would include, Today it snowed, or
You know what we did today? We shoveled our tents out
from 5 feet of snow. We will touch base with all of
you once we arrive at Camp 1.
Oh,
and if any of you out there speak with her, tell Selma
I said Hi!
Well
that is it for now! Hope all is well!
Bye-Bye! JJ
