Manaslu 2003: Jeff Justman Dispatch

Manaslu, at 8163 meters, is the eighth highest
peak in the world. It is located in the
west-central part of Nepal, and our team will
climb it by the original route. |

Dispatch Camp 1 Manaslu!
The
Manaslu Team 1 has made it to Camp 1! They will be up
there for approximately 10 days or so. They had
horrendous weather with up to 7 feet of snow at base
camp prior to their attempt of moving to Camp 1 at
19,000ft. The weather let up and they moved on up
yesterday.
Their
plan is to spend 7-10 days fixing line up to the other
camps all the way up to high camp at just below 25,000
ft.
JJ
said it was a long day to Camp 1. They are glad the
trip up the mountain is progressing. The rest of the
team should arrive around April 13th or so. Ciao!
