Manaslu 2003: Jeff Justman Dispatch
|
|
|
Manaslu, at 8163 meters, is the eighth highest
peak in the world. It is located in the
west-central part of Nepal, and our team will
climb it by the original route. |
April
11, 2003 More and More Snow!!!!
Wanting to try something new I borrowed a CD from
Shane Evans. It is a compilation CD of Womens Country
music stars with the likes of Shania Twain, Faith
Hill, The Dixie Chicks, etc. After a few songs, with a
tear in my eye thinking of every ex-girlfriend I could
not take it anymore! So now I have replaced it with
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogs Sippin on Gin and Juice
Laid
Back
, which is exactly what I am doing right now
laying back minus the Gin and Juice.
A lot
of fresh snow has fallen at Camp 1. We almost have all
the line fixed up to Camp 2 at 22,000 feet. But once
again we must wait for the snow to settle. Once it
does, our plan is to move up to Camp 2 and then climb
up past Camp 3 to High Camp.
We
will then return to BC to rest and refuel for several
days before we return to the mountain for our summit
attempt. If it would only STOP SNOWING!!!
Oh
yea, and if any of you are wondering what happened to
our furry little teammate. No, not Bruce, I am talking
about our canine companion Manaslu. He has abandoned
the climb after reaching Camp 1. He is now acclimating
in the village of Sama.
Hope
everything is going well for everyone at home! Will
talk with you soon. We should be back down at Base
camp around April 15th. I will recharge the batteries
to the phone and talk to you then!
Until
then
Bye Bye
JJ
