Pumori 2003 featuring Dan Mazur: Dispatch Three
|
Dispatch Three: Good
news for travelers to Nepal! The Maoist Rebels and the
Nepali Government have called a truce. This means an
end to the violence that has plagued Nepal for some
time. Who knows how long this will last, but it's a
great start!
The last of our Team
arrived today, with Dene Hewson from New Zealand/Japan
(He and Jay have already started bantering with
friendly Australia vs. N.Z rivalry), Greg Mills from
the USA and Koenraad Van Huffel from Belgium.
This afternoon, Dan
and Jay checked our Climbing Sherpas' and High
Altitude Cooks' equipment. We take extremely good care
of our Sherpa Staff. Our Staff are among the best and
they work very hard, therefore it is crucial for them
to have good quality equipment in good condition. Most
of the Sherpas' equipment is kindly donated by
Expedition Members who have an excess.
Our official
Expedition Dinner kicked off tonight at the famous
"KC's Restaurant" Food was excellent and the combined
Pumori/Manaslu Expedition Members had a chance to meet
each other and tell stories.
A big day is planned
for tomorrow, so we'd better get some sleep. More news
tomorrow. Jay Reilly
Thank You from all of
us on the
SummitClimb 2003 Pumori Expedition.
