5/16/2002: Hi
EverestNews.com, Confirmed via radio from summit, At
6.00 am Spanish time, so 4 hours ago, Alberto
Inurrategui and JC Lafaille had summitted Annapurna
8091 m. Alberto Inurrategui become the 10th climber to
finish the quest for 14 8.000 meters peaks. Veikka Gustafsson
and Ed Viesturs had retreat at 7300 m. More details

Successful
Annapurna's ascent Thursday May 16th at 10.00 local
time (Nepal). Katia Lafaille has just informed us that
Jean Christophe has reached the summit by the East
ridge. This way, is very difficult, and has been done
without repetitions. It is the hardest way JC has
never done. He is very tired but also very happy. He
should reach base Camp on Saturday. Soon more news.
