Hi
EverestNews.com, Here I am, in Katmandu... It is
easier for me to get over the Internet and e-mail from
here than from the Annapurna's Base Camp. Last May
16th, at 10.00 (Nepalese time), Jean Christophe
summited the Annapurna (8091m) with a Basque climber
with whom he was ascending.
This
success is a worldwide "premiere" as after
the first ascent of the Swiss climber Ehardt Loretan
in 1994 in just one way on the East ridge coming back
by the Annapurna's North face, this ridge has not been
repeated and has never been ascended by round trip...
A lot
of uncertainties, fears, involvement and fatigue
during this ascent...
A lot
of things to tell also...
You
will find the first pictures and story by Jean
Christophe, about this incredible mountain,
exclusively in the magazine "Paris Match" in
a few days. [After this issue, we hope to get some
pictures for you].
Best
regards, Katia Lafaille
