Dispatch
April 17, 2002: Jean-Christophe
Lafaille is well arrived at Annapurna's Base Camp last
April 12th. On April 14th, Jean Christophe and the
expedition's members have started acclimatization on
the big east ridge. They have deposited equipment at
around 5.000 meters, fixed 200 meters of ropes in
order to gain time on their way back from the Summit
but as well during the ascent ...
Monday
15th, they will rest at Base Camp during the all
day. Tuesday 16th, early in the morning they will go
to Camp 1 installed at 5400 m. They will stay there
for the night before returning to Base Camp early on
Wednesday 17th. For the moment, weather conditions are
good; the only problem is that it is windy, around
80-100 km/h around 7000 meters and 8000 meters! But
this is not worrying as he has not yet got that high
on the ridge...
Best
wishes, Katia Lafaille
