Update
from 8/1/2001: Dear Friends,
As
you know we all got back safe and sound from Ararat
with a rare experience in a remote - hard to
reach, mystic place on earth. During the last ten
days, we've shared beautiful days in the Eastern
Turkey, had an exciting and nice climb and life
time remembering moments and real - pure friendship
that got together for a good cause. I am very happy
to be a part of this unique expedition. When George
Martin [EverestNews.com] first had the idea of Everest
summiteers together on Ararat, I loved it at the first
instant and believed that this is going to be a
life time memory for all those who will take part.
In
this first Everest Summiteers ascent, we were 7
climbers from 4 different continents. I believe in the
future we can do it in different regions for different
charities. The Colombian friends already had this
invitation. The idea is; while realizing a life time
dream, do something for others, those who are in need,
those who are not as lucky as we are. We climbers, we
do what we can do best; we climb. By climbing, we want
to get the attention of you; the individuals who
has a great sense of responsibility for the
poor, for the unlucky and for the other ones.
Together
we started something, I guess it is a good thing.
If we climbers can get together in peace and harmony
for others, why not spread it all around the
world.
For
organizing the Turkey part of this climb, as AKUT
team, we are all very proud and happy to host our
climber friends in our beautiful country. We hope they
enjoyed every moment of it. If we've had any mistakes
or missed anything, we believe that our friends will
forgive us for our humble amateurness, but that's what
we are. We are a search and rescue team and
specialized on almost any sort of rescue
operations. With this regard, I'd like to thank once
again to my teammates in AKUT, Turkish Army and local
authorities for being a part of this
climb and organize communications, logistics,
safety, permit and every other bit.
Thank
you for all those who follow us. Next time, let's
make it bigger; together...
