Hello
EverestNews.com/HolylandExpeditions.com's readers !
The
team will be journeying to the northside of the
mountain today. We will visit a salt cave and
then a bazaar in order to obtain our final food provisions and fuel.
Dogubayazit
already has a frontier like quality to it but we are
now about to go further afield.
We
have had rain the past few days and some snow
accumulation up high on the mountain. Tomorrow we
will trek toward base camp on the north - our
final ascent line will be determined after we arrive
on the other side, as none of the Turkish climbers
have ever seen the mountain from that aspect.
A true adventure for every one of us.
The
Columbians and additional AKUT climbers will meet up
with us tomorrow. There has been some discussion of a
traverse of the mountain with some of the AKUT team
ascending from the south but nothing definite
yet.
We
have got an experienced and very positive team here
and we are all very happy to be working together on this
project.
We
made a presentation to an international group of
exchange students in town yesterday and enjoyed
sharing the mountain experience with each other and
the group. As climbers we share many common
experiences which often translates to a language of
commonality. As Ricardo so nicely
expressed to the group yesterday - climbing is about
conquering oneself - to grow - to learn - to become
more patient, and to love.
Best
regards, David Keaton
