Alpine Ascents
International Everest Spring 2002 Expedition
| Mount
Everest, rising 8,850m (29,035ft) above sea
level reigns as the highest mountain on Earth.
For decades summiting Everest has been
considered one of the greatest mountaineering
achievements. In the spring of each year, Alpine Ascents
embraces this intense challenge by taking a
group of climbers to Nepal to climb Mt.
Everest via the South Col route.

Guides
include Willie Prittie, Mike Roberts, Luis Benitez,
Jose Luis Peralvo and VERNON
TEJAS. Climbers
include Al Hanna (72), Jeff Mathy, Cleve Mc Donald,
Joe Leroy, Karl Yoder, and Arnold Witzig.
Update:
Part of the Alpine Ascent expedition summited last
night, names to be confirmed. Al Hanna did not
summit again. He has now attempted the summit of
Everest several times without success... Jeff
Mathy did not attempt the Summit.

5/26/2002: Nine members and eight High Altitude
Sherpas of Alpine Ascents South Col Everest 2002
expedition team have succeeded to climb the summit
of Mt. Everest (8,848m) on 25th May 2002 at (between
10:30 to 11:18 AM) It is also reported that they
started for the summit at 9:00 pm of 24th May from
South Col.
