|We were a bit
surprised to find not many people from other expeditions here in
base camp, the mountain has been pretty quiet until our arrival.
Apparently none of the others have made it up yet, due to poor
health or poor snow conditions. We are hoping that as the
weather cools in October the snow will improve.
Base camp was quite busy as we
unloaded dozens of yak loads and set up tent after tent (one
tent for each member). Fortunately most people seem to be
acclimatizing reasonably well and no new illnesses appeared.
Unfortunately the clouds
started pouring some freezing rain in the evening. We took
little note due to a delicious dinner including spiced yak meat,
until it was time to head back to the tents...
