Ama Dablam Autumn 2002

Dan Mazur and his Autumn 2002 Ama Dablam

We carried the telecomms equipment to camp 1 at 5700 meters. to try and fit in dispatches around our climbing, as we are in desperate need of a person who would be in charge of writing these dispatches everyday from base camp.

This is a temporary dispatch made between summit bids. The positions of the team members are as follows:

Andy and Ian Prentice, Jon Briggs, Stuart MacCrimmon, and Tom Lannaman, summited yesterday with our super Sherpa Tek Bahadur, and are currently descending.

Markus Staehelin says he will not parachute from the summit today, as the wind is not right. He will try the summit today with Tom Boylston, Andy Hilton, Paul Mitterbacher, Jay Reilly, Christian Rodenbeck, Mick Long, accompanied by our very strong two Sherpas Lakpa and Galu Sherpa.

Yesterday Tom Taplin climbed from camp 1 to camp 2 accompanied by the very strong Ang Shera Sherpa.

Climbing from Camp 1 to camp 2 today are: Randy Murphy, David Cooper, Ken Stalter, Roland Debare, Patrick Bernier, and Daniel Mazur, accompanied by the 8000 meter and Ama Dablam veteran expert Sherpa Jangbu Sherpa.

Resting in ABC is Marc Serravezza

Resting in base camp is Rex Dougherty, one of our three super strong climbing leaders. We hope he will try for the summit tomorrow.

Resting in base camp are Charlie Winger and Micheal Hale.

Wendy Larson is still on her trek to Everest base camp.

Brian Rolfson and Clayton Kuhles have departed, and we will miss them very much.

Best Regards From All Of US on the Ama Dablam Expedition from www.summitclimb.com
