Today, Murari Sharma
of Parivar Trekking and Dan and Rex and Jay did a training walk to
Swaymbunath, the Monkey Temple. Kathmandu was quiet and peaceful.
Dan bought an inexpensive suit and tie
and went to the British Embassy to enquire about obtaining a visa
for one of the staff at the agency, who wants to study computer
analysis in London, in order to help Nepal, and to return to teach
here. It was the first time Dan had ever been seen wearing such
clothing in Kathmandu, even though he only had them on for 1 hour 45
minutes. |

Deha,
Murari's cousin, and staff member, opened and tested the computers
donated for the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee, by Kevin
Donovan and Rudy Zuber. We plan to bring these to Park headquarters
at Namche Bazaar, where the SPCC is trying to manage our world park
of Mt Everest, one of the globes finest heritage and environmental
sites, and home of the gracious Sherpa people. We will be
accompanied by several newspaper reporters for the computer
handover.400 Kilos of our food came today, and we packed for cargo
shipping to Lukla. Miss
Elizabeth Hawley visited, and it was really wonderful to see this
charming person once again, and talk about our plans for the
expedition. She is gathering invaluable statistics about mountain
climbing in Nepal. Dan met with Shilpi Shrestha, who is considering
helping us out with our database problems. Our beautiful Ama Dablam
postcards were delivered, and each member will receive twenty, so
there is no excuse for not writing home!
The team assembled at a local
restaurant, The Everest Steak House, and enjoyed some conversation,
and then went back to the Nepal International Hotel for a rest.
Thank you very much, from All of us
