||Dan took all the
members onto the roof of the Hotel Nepa for an official greeting,
and went through the equipment we all need for both the Climb, and
the trek to Base camp. Most of the members' gear was very good and
only a few had to buy some extra.
The afternoon was very busy preparing
last minute things - bags had to be weighed, gear had to be packed
and medications had to be bought. Late in the day, Dan, Jay, Murari
Sharma from Parivar Trekking, Tom Taplin, Tom Lannamann and Mick
Long all attended the Ministry for Tourism Expedition Brief. This
Brief is the final meeting to issue the Expedition its Permit and
for us to meet our Government Appointed Liason Officers.
involved us sitting in a room with the Tourism Ministers and being
interviewed about the logistics of the Expedition and ensuring all
the details on the permit are correct - i.e. member names etc.
Murari and Dan spent the evening at
Ms. Elizabeth Hawley's home, where they went over the expedition
member's details. Ms. Hawley is collecting data for mountaineering
Anyway, we have an early morning
tomorrow, so bye for now.
