Indian
Army successfully climbed the summit of Mt. Annapurna
I (8091m) this morning May 06, 02 at 0720 hours.
Annapurna I, the 10th highest in the world, is
regarded as one of the most technically difficult 8000
m Peaks of the world.
Earlier
on May 05, 4 members and 3 sherpas of the Indian Team
had started to climb for the summit at 11 PM, near mid
night, from Camp III, at approx. 6850 meters.
The successful members are:

Lalit Kumar Negi, 43 years.
- Havildar
Chhieing Norbu Boodh, SC 33 years
- Havildar
Rajender Sigh Jalal, 30 years
- Rifleman
Jagat Singh 26 years.
- Ang
Tashi Dorje Sherpa 31 years from Khumbung, Solu
Khumbu
- Lhakpa
Thundu Sherpa 31 years from Khumjung, Solu Khumbu
- Pasang
Rinji Sherpa 26 years old from Jubing, Solu
Khumbu.
The
team is being congratulated, right now, by friends and
well wishers for this outstanding victory on Mount
Annapurna.

Mount Annapurna I Summitted By Indian Army
- Four
members & 3 High Altitude Sherpas of Indian
Army Annapurna I Expedition have been successful
to climb the summit of 8091 meter high Mt.
Annapurna I on 6th May 2002 at 08:00 AM. They had
started from camp III on 5th May 2002 at 11:00 PM.
It is also reported that all the summiters have
reached down to camp III at 11:30 this morning.

17 member Indian Army Annapurna I Expedition team was
permitted to climb 8091 meter high Mt. Annapurna I
from North Face during the Spring Season of 2002 under
the leadership of Lt. Col. SC Sharma (43 yrs). Lt.
Col. from Indian Army.
