27th day of the
Brazilian Expedition to the Top of the World.
Base Camp (5,400m). Just a little short of Camp 1.
Wow, not yet today! But the SPCC personnel are just a
little short from the location of Camp 1. They did
not get there because there are 3 or 4 gigantic
crevasses in front, which are going to take a lot of
work.
A shame, because they left early
from Base Camp, in a sunny morning, along with our
high altitude carriers and also with the Japanese
carriers. They made a very strong team and had
thought for
certain that they would reach the location for Camp
1. Patience! Here it is always the mountain who
dictates the rules of the game.
We are not wasting time and we are
setting all up for our carries to higher altitudes.
Everything is ready, food and equipment, for our Camps
1 and 2.
Our curiosity is also big to see the
conditions of the ascent route above Camp 1, because
from Base we can not see that part or the Everest
summit, which is hidden by its West ridge.
We know that there is a lot of snow
on the Ice Fall, and above Camp 1 the snow should be
different. But, I confess, what I really want to see
is the flank of Lhotse, to imagine which path we are
going to travel to the highest altitudes of the Top of
the World.
See the picture of the beautiful
morning we had.

Namaste!
