Camp 1 (6,150m) - Camp 2 (6,500m). The Brazilian
Expedition is the first to install Camp 2
Making the most of our time, that's our motto on our
second advance to the higher altitudes of Everest and
Today we opened the path to the Valley of Silence up
to the location of Camp 2 (6,500m). We faced big
crevasses after leaving Camp 1, where it was necessary
to improvise bridges with aluminum ladders.
Afterwards, the big amount of snow on the path was our
Anyway, we are at Camp 2, also called Advanced Base
Camp, because this will be our base for our take off
to climb Everest and
which are well on our heads, the team is simply
radiant and we can hardly contain so much happiness.
From here we can visualize the development of our
climbing routes, a terrain that looks virgin in front
of us, because nobody is ahead of us. We are having
the great privilege of opening the path through the
fresh snow of a glacier, leaving our footsteps, which
will be followed by other climbers.
Our teammate Marcelo Santos, BONGA, is three days
behind, unhappily was victim of a terrible tooth ache.
This forced him to descend down to
Lukla and to pay a flight
to Katmandu. Our agent, who waited in the airport,
immediately took him to a clinic. The last news we
have is that he will stay there for the next 5 days.
