36th day of the Brazilian Expedition to the Top of the
Camp 2 (6,500m). First attack to Lhotse's flank.
of a sunny morning, Alir, Irivan and me left towards
Lhotse's flank (6,500m).
It wasn't easy to
get there, because a great number of crevasses
interrupted the way every moment. We had to stretch
the lines that joined us and we crossed over the
fragile bridges of ice with coldness.
We left flags in
every angle of the way, which were useful on our
return, because it began to snow a lot at noon and
visibility was reduced to around 40 meters.
By the morning we
were having sun and a blue sky, and from here at Camp
2, we can see all the beauty of the top part of
Everest and Lhotse. During the afternoon, clouds stole
away that beautiful vision.
Paulo Mαfia, from
Base: Weather at Base Camp is very different from what
is written above about Camp 2, we have been under
constant snowfalls in the last 3 days. Yesterday, on
my way to Camp 1, I had to come back because of bad
weather. I'll try again to climb tomorrow.
