39th day of the
Brazilian Expedition to the Top of the World.
Camp 2 (6,500m. of altitude / Camp 3 - 7,300m of altitude) Brazilian
Expedition: The first to install Camp 3 (note 2 dispatches today, make
sure you check the second one too)
With much happiness we
send this message from 7,300m of altitude.
It is now 18h30
local time and temperature is minus 16 degrees Celsius. Alir, Irivan
and me are enjoying a spectacular sunset from our tents on Camp 3.
From the vertical
slope of Lhotse's flank, we watch below the Valley of Silence in
direction to Base Camp, where Pumori stands imponently, and behind its
summit, Cho Oyu.
We arrived here at
14h00 on this fourth attack to Lhotse's flank, now with the help of the
other two Japanese expeditions, who descended immediately.
We are very happy
because weather is optimal, revealing the summits of Everest and Lhotse,
and a beautiful blue sky, well above our heads. We are also happy
because Alir, Irivan and me feel in good shape, here at 7,300m of
altitude, we are very well and without the least headache.
