50th day of the
Brazilian Expedition to the Top of the World.
Camp 2 (6,500m). Bad weather prevents advance.
We were hoping for a calm night and for our
dreams to take us high in the mountains. Just when we got into our
sleeping bags, we began to feel the wind shaking our tents, without
a break, all night long.
Wind, snow, cold, all night long and all the
morning. We stayed in our sleeping bags waiting for the weather to
slowly calm down.
The situation disappointed most of the Korean
team who are going to climb Everest and the Japanese team who are
climbing Lhotse, they are going back to Base Camp after day break.
We stayed here, analyzing the weather forecast,
making plans for the summit attack and trying to convince the
Japanese team to Everest to go along with us, which we did, so
tomorrow will be a new day and a new hope. We hope we have a calm
night to stay on the mountain. |
