54th day of the
Brazilian Expedition to the Top of the World.
Base Camp (5,400m) - Camp 2 (6,500m). A dream about to come true.
We left Base Camp
this morning, full of hope. As we advanced to the Ice Fall and
across the Valle of Silence, the hope grew bigger.
The blue sky, an
infinite blue, one of a kind. The strong sun, neutralizing cold,
but with a soft, fresh and almost constant breeze.
Our hope to put
Brazil's flag on the summit of Lhotse and Everest, is the beat of
our hearts.
What a wonderful
day we had today! What a beauty to contemplate the mountains in
this endless blue!
In the middle of
so much contemplation, that deeply hidden anxiety and the worry that
this weather doesn't last too long.
Our prayers are
for this weather to last what we need, some 3 or 4 days, to make our
dream come true. God will decide!
Paulo Mαfia from
Base Camp:
With the arrival
of the tourism season in Nepal, groups of tourists that do altitude
trekking daily arrive to Base Camp to spend the day and are curious
with the everyday activities of the expeditions. We are famous in
the Khumbu Valley because of our hospitality.
