August 16, 2002:
Phakding (2.600m). Namche Bazaar (3.440m) Brazil to
the Top of the World. Entering in the National Park of
the Sagarmatha. Today we had one morning of sun after
our departure from Phakding and it practically did not
rain until 4PM, when we arrived in Namche Bazaar. Now
it must happen the same of yesterday, in the
afternoon, it is raining and it must rain until the
dawn. We pass for the entrance of the National Park of
the Sagarmatha. Sagarmatha is the name in Nepali of
the Everest. The National Park of the Sagarmatha was
created in 1976 and has 4 mountains of more than 8
thousand meters of altitude: Everest (8.848m), Lhotse
(8.501m), Makalu (8.464m) and Cho Oyo (8.201m). The
objective of the creation of the park was the
protection of the environment and the local culture.
The creation of the park was well received. Currently,
every year, more than 25 a thousand vistorsand
alpinists come to visit its mountains. We gain
altitude passing the entrance of the park, in Jorsale,
we exceed the altitude of Pico of the Black Needles
(2.787m), in Namche Bazaar already we are higher here
of the one than the biggest mountain of Brazil, Pico
of the Fog (3.014m). In the photos of today it is
possible to perceive one of the innumerable waterfalls
that we find for the way, formed from waters of the
monsoon of the summer. Also some of the bridges that
we cross, on the river Dudh Khosi.

Namaste!
