13th day of the Brazilian Expedition to the Top of the World.
Pheriche (4,280m) - Lobuche (4,930m)
Bad weather makes it impossible to see Everest.

Last night it rained hard without pause, the same as all day today.  The monsoon is really revved up, we hope that all this rain diminishes in the next two weeks.

Unhappily the great amount of clouds everywhere make it impossible to enjoy a magnificent view of the landscape.  If it wasn't so cloudy, we would already have seen Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and many other mountains.  I imagine the impact my expedition fellows will feel when we have a blue sky, jagged by the biggest mountains of the world.  I remember very well the first sight I had of Everest, in 1991, in this same season of the year, in this same place.  After so much time, my will to see it again is a big as the first time.

On our way to Lobuche, we had a moment of reflection, when we found a place where there is a memorial for some deceased climbers on Everest, that today sum more than 150.  Small piles of rocks, called tcheudos, also some chortens, which were built in memory of some of them, and our attention was called to that dedicated to Scott Fischer.

We are very high, today we passed the altitude of Mont Blanc (4,807m).  Fortunately we have been feeling well.  It is clear that our training in Bolivia, in the eve of this expedition, was decisive for an excellent acclimatization.

Today's picture depicts our team at the memorial.

Namaste!
