Lhotse Summited Date: 4th October 2002
Two members and one High Altitude
Sherpa of MEIJI University Lhotse Expedition have succeeded to climb
8516 m high Mount Lhotse on 3rd October 2002 at 9:30 am. They spent
30 minutes at the summit. They left Camp 4 (7700 m) for the summit
at 4 am. At the time of summit weather was very perfect, they put
the flag of Nepal and Japan at the top of the mountain and took
photographs.
It is also reported that they left
the summit for Camp 4 at 10 am and arrived Camp 4 at 11.20 am.
The other three members of the team
including leader will try for the summit on 8th October 2002.
Name of the Summiteers:
- Mr. Kazuhiro Takahashi (29
years), teacher from Shibuya Ku, Tokyo, Japan.
- Mt. Shoichi Mori (27 years),
Student of MEIJI University from Hashimoto, Sagamihara Shi,
Kanagawa Ken, Japan.
- Mr. Lhakpa Rita Sherpa (30
years), High Altitude Sherpa from Khumjung 9, Khunde, Solukhumbu,
Nepal.
The Six member MEIJI University
Lhotse Expedition 2002 team was permitted to climb 8516 m high Mount
Lhotse from West Face (Normal Route) for the period of seventy five
days from 29th August 2002 under the leadership of Mr. Toichiro
Mitani (40 years), Company Employee from Nakatado Gun, Kagawa
Ken, Japan.
