FOCUS WORLD EXPEDITIONS: One team for spring season,
is composed by Italian climbers led by Gianni Rusconi.
Start from Italy on 7th April 2001. Another two
teams will be there in the fall season, start 28th
august 2001. The first one is composed by 7 members
and led by Ezio Berti, the second one by 6 members.
All of them will attempt the normal route.
Fausto
De Stefani was part of this Expedition. Fausto
De Stefani is currently working on building a school in Nepal at Kirtipur.
Kirtipur is a very poor part of Kathmandu. Fausto
De Stefani has been credited with 13 summit of the 14 8000 meter peaks.
On Lhotse he reached a very high point possibly the Summit, but historians have
not given him the credit because he summited in a snow storm and another climber
said the tracks stopped short of the summit. Then again were they filled in by
the snow? He seem to have no interest in going back. Sergio
Martini did go back to end the doubt.
7.)
Kari Kobler: breaking news THE FIRST 8000m SUMMIT
THIS SEASON? Kari and his 12 member expedition
from Switzerland managed on the 11th of April to
put several people on the Summit.
More
details from Kari, " The
following Member reach from camp II and III directly,
the Maintop of Cho Oyu. On Shisha we dry
also to reach the Maintop!"

IMG Cho Oyu 2001 Expedition:
The
Success: Our
International Mountain Guides Cho Oyu
expedition, led by guides Kurt Wedberg and Ben
Marshall, were calling from the summit of Cho
Oyu on our radio frequency. They had just
reached the top of the world's sixth highest
mountain (8201m or about 26,900 feet) with
their team.
This is our eighth successful Cho Oyu expedition
(out of nine trips there since 1995). Eric
