Current Expedition Time
Dispatch Four: Hello EverestNews.com readers,
and a special hello to my family. This is Nancy in Lhasa, Tibet. Our flight to
Lhasa yesterday was spectacular because we had that magical day where the
clouds allowed us to see the great one, Mt. Everest. It was really exciting for
all of us. We arrived late in the afternoon and just spent the remainder of
the day resting, since jumping from 3,500 feet to 12,000 was pretty big.
We spent most of
our day today enjoying the culture and acclimatizing. A few of the team
members are feeling a little ill, but I'm sure they will be 100% very soon. We
are all a little antsy and just want to get to the mountain and start
climbing. Tomorrow we move to Shigatse and will spend one night there at
13,000 feet. I'll sign off for now and report in again as soon as I can. Nancy

Nancy Norris, who at age 59 will
attempt Cho Oyu, the world’s 6th highest mountain, as a
prelude to her climb on Mt. Everest in the Spring 2004
at age 60. Nancy will attempt to become the oldest
American woman to Summit Everest.
On Cho Oyu, Nancy Norris will join a team of 25 climbers,
guides and support staff organized by International Mountain Guides, Inc.
(IMG). Headquartered in Ashford, WA under the direction of American
mountaineer Eric Simonson. IMG has successfully led over 100 climbers to the
summit of Cho Oyu on 11 previous expeditions to that mountain.
