Lhotse
2001: Gary Pfisterer and the International Expedition
Update
May 25th: Email
from Gary. The team is leaving base camp. They
should be back in Kathmandu on the 30th at which time
he will get in contact again. Thomas Moores was helicoptered
out yesterday. the other remaining team members are
fine but evidently did not get a summit [not
confirmed] shot due to the rescue of Tom.
Tom
Moore, we believe did reach the Summit of Lhotse [not
yet confirmed] but had some problems coming down. There
are at least two different versions of Tom's
"rescue" both completely different !
Therefore, we have held that story...
According
to our Polish sources Tom is Ok with some frostbite...
We
will update this story later when we can....
Update
May 19th: Gary,
"On the hill virtually everyone is talking about
going up tomorrow. Thankfully we are a small
expedition at this point so we should be able to sort
out some porterage for the way out without serious
difficulty. I suspect that the
next five days will tell the story.
We are heading up tomorrow so this will be the last
contact until we are out of base camp. We have heard
there has been some success on other hills... "
"As
everyone will be moving, the next contact will be when
we get back to Kathmandu by the end of the month.
As always, Love to friends and family- we will see you
soon." Cheers, Gary.
