Hello
everyone! I had a visitor yesterday, from Miss
Elizabeth Hawley's office... For those who don't know,
for years now Miss Hawley "keeps the score"
on climbing in Himalayas (who climbed what, when and
so on...). I met her last year in person, before my
Everest attempt. Quite a few climbers this year
in Kathmandu... familiar faces, big names, old friends
... Just
found out, a few Russian climbers (good fiends of
mine) are attempting Lhotse "Middle"...
They are at Everest base camp already. I guess I have
to get a couple of bottles of "Russian
Vodka", before I go up to base camp:)
All
my gear and food are packed and ready to be shipped to
Everest/Lhotse base camp. I am leaving tomorrow (March
29)... first on a "twin engine" to Phaplu,
then a helicopter ride to Lukla. From Lukla I'll start
on foot towards Everest/Lhotse base camp... 25 lb.
backpack.. no porter... should be a good workout :)
