Dispatch Summary
We
have set up Base Camp for our expedition. Most of our supplies
have arrived. We are listening to music, eating food
cooked by Karsang and have taken a hot shower. This morning we had
ours blessing
ceremony, without which nobody dares to
take a step in the mountain. During the
nearly two hour ceremony we sang danced and prayed to
the Sagarmatha Goddess to protect our expedition while we climb Everest. The ceremony also
includes hanging flags, throwing toasted flour
and rice to the sky, and to drink whiskey
(a good reason why several members of the expedition
had to stagger to sleep so soon after we
finish the ceremony).
We are already
working to get organized. Patty and I
finished checking the gear and making sure
the Sherpas
climbers took gear to Camp 1. We make our plan of
acclimatization and assembly of the camps.
Tomorrow our Sherpas climbers move on up
the mountain.
The history
continues...
With affection,
Cristina Prieto
