Link's Dispatch for April 29, 2002 after their
return to base camp.

We
had to bail out of Camp 2 yesterday. Deep snow
and dwindling food supply forced the team to
return to base camp. A big storm came through
a couple of days ago and dumped a few feet of
snow. It trapped us in camp so we spent the
time building and improving our living
situation. Andy, Adam and Tommy built an
awesome indoor snow cave latrine complete with
a Trango tent fly door.
We
are resting and gearing up for our next summit
bid. The route has been laid in with fixed
line to just below Camp 4. Everyone remains
healthy and ready for next push. In a perfect
world, we will leave base camp the day after
tomorrow and go directly to Camp 2. From there
we will climb through the upper camps and make
our summit bid. It’s all up to the mountain
now!
Catch
you later-
