10, 2002 - The Mountain Link Office: We received word from Angie Nickamin,
Dave's wife, that the group was safe, sound, and healthy at Camp 4. The team
made it close to the summit. However, due to the turn around time, they decided
to abort the summit attempt. Angie said David sounded very proud of how far up
the mountain they made it . They are at high camp resting/sleeping. They will
start making their way back to base camp tomorrow (Saturday) provided the
weather holds up. Once at base camp, they will clean up and start the trek back
to Jomsom.
Congratulations
to the team for making safe decisions high on the mountain. Let's all hope their
travels back to the US prove to be just as safe and successful.
