Dhaulagiri Expedition 2002

May 22, 2002 – The Mountain Link Office

The Mountain Link Dhaulagiri Expedition has decided to turn back. The weather did not cooperate on their third attempt to climb the big mountain. High winds turned them around. The group (Andy, Tommy, Lindy, The Greek, JJ, and Robo) was dismantling Camp 2 at 9 a.m. Nepal time on May 22. Once complete, they were heading down to base camp. The Sherpa have already dismantled Camp 4 and Camp 3. Everyone is coming down the mountain.

They are happy with the effort they put out to climb Dhaulagiri. They gave it their best shot! Everyone here is very proud of them and their efforts! Congratulations to the group!

Once at base camp, they will rest, send a final dispatch from the mountain, clean up their area, and start heading towards Kathmandu.
