DISPATCH
1:
AIR CARGO:
Expedition materials are not the easiest things to
get shipped, especially in these days. The clearance
of 63 cartridges Butan/Propane gas was nerve
wrecking. After a lot hustling back and forth over
480 kg air cargo and dangerous goods was shipped to
Kathmandu.
KATHMANDU:
The Maoists have called /confirmed a 5 days strike
in Nepal. As such there will be no transportation
available and all activities will be closed. The
strike starts from the 2-6 April. However the cargo
and all the govt. offices will remain closed. We
will see what happens and plan to take out our cargo
before we leave for Tibet.
EXPEDITION
START: Nearly all the equipment is in transit to
Nepal. The team starts with Singapore Air on April
2nd from Zurich and arrive in Kathmandu on 3rd
April. The expedition will be supported by the
services of Asian Trekking. We will be staying at
the Gauri Shanker Hotel in Thamel and looking
forward to meet there our Nepalese kitchen team:
Nima Sherpa (age 35) and Tenjing Chheten Sherpa (age
27). Nima was with us at
Swiss-German-Double-Expedition 1999 (Cho Oyu/Shisapangma).
We appreciate his "support" in kind of
Yak-Steak, Grilled Tomato, French Fries and
Salad.
