DISPATCH
3: ...
we arrived at Katmandu.
FLIGHT:
Three days ago we left Zurich. After a twelve-hour
flight to Singapore we arrived in the early hours of
April the 3rd. At 9 AM we left for Katmandu.
KATMANDU:
At the airport we were picked up by our cook, Nima.
We drove to the Hotel Gauri Shanker and settled in.
At the Asian Trekking Office we were expected by
Dawa Sherpa and dealt with the necessary
formalities.
AIR
CARGO: Except for the gas, which was left behind by
Thai Airways in Bangkok, all out luggage has arrived
at Katmandu. We hope that we can pick up the gas
cartouches from the airport today in the afternoon.
THE
FOLLOWING DAYS: We will stay busy today and
tomorrow. Yesterday we were interviewed by a
colleague of Liz Hawley (Everest statistics). Today
we tested the medical oxygen, which Matthias and
myself got from the agency and on Saturday we will
go with Nima and Cheten to see a Lama in order to
have the Gods of the mountains look friendly upon
our plans.
PLANS:
We are optimistic. For now we count on the truck
leaving with 2000 kg of our luggage on Saturday
night heading towards the Chinese border. We will
follow on Sunday morning 6 AM. However, at the
moment the situation at the border seem a bit
unclear. Until yesterday the street close to the
border could not be used due to a landslide. But
supposedly the street is now clear again. But then
again, we heard that there have has been an uproar
of the Maoists last night.
TEAM
SPIRIT: Our team is in good spirits.
