After
the top 10th May
Hi
everyone, Even if you already know that we did it,
here is the official written communication to say
that Mirco Mezzanotte, Franco Nicolini and Simone
Moro have made it to the top of Cho Oyu 8201 meters.
All of us are a part of the Altitude team, the most
famous ski touring team. Here
is the description of that experience: 8th May, in
only 4 hours and half we got at 7100 meters at CB 2.
At 6.30 in the morning we left for the top of Cho
Oyu. We did not sleep well because we did not have
any sleeping bags, and we did not eat and drink as
well, but we were to determinate to achieve the top.
At
8000 meters, I did a connection with an Italian
Radio station Radio 24. I was very close to decide
not to keep going but using my last mentally and
physically energies I did!!!!
At
13.30 pm Franco and Micro arrived at the top of Chow
You at 8201 mt. An
hour after them, I arrived as well. We had to fight
with strong wind all the way up. Stingy weather and
strong wind did not stop us!!! Today 10th May Enrico
Stefani and Leonardo Moschetti have decided to try
the same thing. They left at 2,00 in the morning but
when they arrived at 7200 mt Enrico decided to go
back at the C2 instead of Leonardo that decided to
keep going by himself. When Leonardo arrived at 7800
mt he stopped for an hour to breath and let the fog
go away. Fortunately, he decided to put his life
first and go back as well since the weather
condition were awful.
Right
now Enrico and Leonardo are at 7100 mt at C2 and
probably they will go come back at the C1 at 6400.
Bye
Simone
CBA
Everest 6400 mt. 13th May 2002
Hi
everybody, I
am calling from the CBA in the north side of
Everest, 6400 mt. I just got here leaving from the
Chinese camp at 5000 mt. It is a walk of 40 km and
with 1400 mt. different in level, which normally you
need a couple of days for the acclimitation.
Mario
Curnis is on his way, he is taking his time and he
is with his friend sherpa. I do not know if he gets
here today, anyways he can do what ever since he ha
his tent. Here at the camp there are not a lot of
people; everyone is at the higher camps, almost
ready for the top. The weather forecast is good for
3 days, sunny and a bit of wind. I
am not ready to attempt the peak yet, since I just
did the Cho Oyu so I need to recuperate energies,
and Mario has to get at 7900 mt to finish his
acclimatation.
I
will keep you informed, Bye
Simone
