Everest 2003: Russian Adventure Team

Russian Adventure Team from Moscow under the leadership of Alexander Abramov will climb Everest from Tibeten side this spring 2003.

This expedition to Everest is a part of new project "Russian Adventure Team" aiming to do all "7 summits" as one team. It was launched this year, when on January, 8, the team climbed Mt. Elbrus (5642m) in very harsh weather conditions. On February 28, Kilimanjaro (5895m) became the second summit climbed by "Adventure Team".

And now comes Everest (8848m). The Everest team includes 12 members, most of them having 8-thousanders experience: Abramov Alexander (leader, Moscow), Yakovenko Alexander (Moscow), Pashkov Vyacheslav (Moscow), Tsaryov Igor (Irkutsk), Kaymachnikov Sergey (Moscow), Larin Sergey (Tver), Moskalyov Dmitry (Moscow), Soyfer Yuriy (Moscow), Litinsky Mikhail (Moscow), Sergeev Alexander (Moscow), Gudzhabidze Bidzina (Tbilisi, Georgia), Pushkaryov Vladimir (Noyabrsk).

Elvira Nasonova, the owner of snow leopard title, is very likely to join the expedition. Should she reach the top she will set a new record becoming the eldest Russian woman to climb Mt. Everest. She is tuning 61 this spring. The expedition leaves Moscow for Katmandu April, 1.
