St. Petersburg Everest - 2003 Jubilee
Expedition
|
This expedition is
organized for the St. Petersburg Mountaineering
Federation and devoted the 300-th anniversary of St.
Petersburg and the 50-th anniversary of the Mt.
Everest first ascent. It includes very strong and
experienced climbers from Russia and other countries.
Andrey Ershov (he has organized many expeditions in
the Pamirs, Tien-Shan, Kun-Lun and Himalayas) is the
expedition leader, Anatoly Moshnikov (he has done a
lot of high-altitude climbs, one ascent of Dhaulagiri
and two ascents of Mt. Everest without bottled oxygen)
is the expedition climbing leader and coach.
The training period
is finished and the Expedition Organizing Committee
announced the participants of the expedition:
1. Mr. Andrey Ershov (St.Petersburg,
Russia) - expedition leader

All of them except
the expedition leader and doctor will try to climb
Mt.Everest. At least three persons want to do that
without bottled oxygen.
Besides these persons
we have several reserve members from St. Petersburg
and several requests about participation in the
expedition from climbers from the other regions of
Russia and other countries. It is very likely that
some of them will be included in the expedition team.
Now our members
continue their preparation in the mountains of Russia
and other countries. We plan to arrive in Kathmandu
about March 28 and then drive to Tibet. Best regards,
Andrey Ershov
