The Summit Team
members are among the best mountaineers in the world.
Led by Gary Guller, the team will establish base camp
at 17,500' and with the assistance of the high
altitude Sherpa make the climb of Everest during April
and May, 2003. If successful, Gary will be the first
person with one arm to reach the summit of Mt.
Everest.
Team Everest's
ultimate objectives are to empower individuals with
disabilities and to assure them the freedom to explore
and to achieve their goals. The Summit Team will carry
this message to the top of the world with your
generous support.

Gary was born in
Britain, and grew up in the Southeastern United
States. He has spent much of his life climbing and
exploring the world, including countless trips to the
Nepal Himalaya.
A 1986 climbing
accident left Gary with a broken neck and the loss of
the majority of his left arm. He was forced to come
face to face with his own limitations, and after
serious introspection, began climbing again. He has
inspired others ever since to continue onward and
upward.
In 1997, he attempted
Lhotse, the 4th highest mountain in the world, and in
2001, Mt. Everest. He is very active in the community
and is known throughout the world for his passion for
exploring and promoting the potential of people with
disabilities. Gary spends the majority of his time in
Nepal; he and his wife Joni live in Austin, TX.
Gary believes that
Team Everest 03 has a powerful message; it models how
society can open the door of opportunity to all
people, regardless of their ability or disability. He
has taken this message to the top of Texas and to the
top of Africa.
Much more on this
expedition in the next few days...
