Update: Hello everyone, it is happening. After
four years of dedication, discipline, and planning, I
am departing for 29,029’ Mount Everest Friday April
4th. This is a technically demanding climb and the
adventure of a lifetime spanning across the Himalayas
of Nepal and into the remote reaches of the world’s
highest country, Tibet.

Update 4/24/2003: During the
Expedition I am also acting as Ben's technical support team. Luckily my head
is large enough to wear many hats! I just wanted to break the silence and let
everyone know that Ben is doing fine and the expedition is proceeding just as
we all had hoped. Unfortunately for the dispatches, this is the Himalayas and
you have to roll with the punches. I have been having many power difficulties
and have been unable to write everyone and keep them in the loop as to how the
climb is going. Check here for the full update.
Update 4/25/2003:
Hello everyone! Now that the
power situation has been solved, I'm off to ABC to check in with Ben himself.
What this means is that in 5 days or so I'll have a lot to write all of you
about, but in the meantime you'll just have to wait for the next dispatch.
Like I said in my last letter, computers just aren't reliable at 21,000 feet.
So I will not be taking any of our technology up to ABC.

advised that on the morning of the 14th, he and his group of Sherpa will start
a summit attempt! Check here for the full update.
Dispatch:
Hello, everyone! Jon Miller here again. I know it has been far
too long since Ben sent his last dispatch, but, as always, the generator has
been kaput since the 7th of May. Luckily, I've made friends with two engineers
(one from the British climbing team) and they've spent the last two days
repairing the poor little Honda. So far so good.
