Current Nepal Time
Welcome! People climb Mount
Everest for many reasons. From the infamous, “ because it is there” to the
more vain, “because I can afford too”. One thing for certain, there are as
many reasons to attempt Everest as there are climbers on her flanks. For the
Canadian Fire Fighter Everest Expedition, we are pursuing a dream that has
been nurtured for over 55 years and two family generations.

Our
Everest journey began with my father long before I was
born. In the English, Yorkshire Moors of the
1940’s my father was an avid outdoorsman and an
aspiring mountain climber. Although the rigors of
outdoor pursuits were replaced with the rigors of
work, wife and children, my father’s zest for life and
ever-present fervor for adventure was strong and was
instrumental in my upbringing.
In my
youth, I was drawn to challenges and it was not long
before I was tackling my own adolescent adventures. |

At
the age of seventeen I embarked on my first big
adventure: a 4200km bicycle ride to Nova Scotia and
back to my hometown of Georgetown, Ontario.
The success of my first
adventurous undertaking was not the completion of the ride, however, the
satisfaction of attempting to achieve a dream. My father and I both believe in
the power and self-fulfillment of attempting to achieve ones own aspirations.
As a result of our life long dreams to climb Mount Everest we have associated
ourselves with a charity whose job it is to grant wishes of child who might
not otherwise be able to live their own dreams.
Climbing Mount Everest will
only satisfy one of the goals we have set ourselves. In our journey to
Everest we have challenged ourselves raise $88,500.00 for the Children’s Wish
Foundation of Canada, “so that children suffering from life threatening
illnesses can live their dreams too”.
Live your Everest dream
through our expedition dispatches Join our Everest journey and experience the
rewards of one of the greatest challenges this planet can
offer…self-fulfillment.
Good Luck to all of you in
reaching your goals, big or small.
Sincerely, Glenn
