Dispatch Two:
April 1, 2003: We have now
been on the Everest trail for 3 days and all is well.
Our trek started after a spectacular 30min. flight
from Kathmandu to Lukla.
The landing strip in Lukla is
spectacular, perched on the side of a Himalayan foothill you, must have your
nerves about you for this exciting landing. All of our equipment has been
helicoptered to the village of Khunde,
where it will be carried by Yak to Base Camp. We are currently at
3500m. and tomorrow we will be going on an acclimatization
walk to 4500 meters. Everything is on schedule and to plan. We will not likely
be able to update the site now until April 9th Remember, if you wish to make a
donation to the Children's Wish call 1 800 267-9474.

Dispatch Three:
April 2, 2003: Today was our
last day in Namche Bazar as we will be continuing up the trail to Everest
tomorrow. To improve our acclimatization we hiked up 1500 feet to the village
of Sangboche to look over our equipment that had been dropped off by
helicopter 2 days ago. The next time we see our equipment it will be at
Everest Base Camp. Our 1400 pounds of gear had been delivered onboard a
vintage Russian cargo helicopter. We had an opportunity to see the helicopter
deliver another expedition’s cargo and we were all amazed that this machine
could actually get off the ground. 6 days to go before we arrive at Base Camp!
