North Side (Tibet) Itinerary


North Side Itinerary

The summit climbers, 8000 meter climbers, and Sherpas enter Tibet from Nepal on April 1. The members fly to Lhasa and the Sherpas travel with the trucks by road via Zhangmu. They will all meet up in Tingri and plan to arrive at Base Camp about April 5th.

The ABC trekkers and North Col climbers fly to Lhasa on April 8, and travel overland to Tingri, where they meet their Nepal trekking staff a few days later. After a leisurely four-day trek, supported by yaks and Sherpas, they arrive at Base Camp on about April 15th.

Trek to Advanced Base Camp

1          Trekkers leave USA

2          Arrive Bangkok, overnight Bangkok airport

3          Fly to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel in Kathmandu

4           Kathmandu sightseeing, get Chinese visas, final packing

5          Fly to Lhasa (12,000), transfer to hotel, afternoon sightseeing

6          Tour Lhasa, visit the Potala, Jokhang, Barkhor

7          Jeep travel to Shigatse (12,800), tour Tashilumpo

8          Jeep travel to Tingri (14,500), meet Sherpa team

9          Acclimatization in Tingri, pack and prepare yak loads

10         Trek up Ra Chu valley to village of Lungjhang (14,800)

11         Trek over Lamma-La pass (16,900) to Zommug village

12         Trek to Rongbuk Monastery (15,500)

13         Trek to Everest Base Camp (17,000)

14-15    Acclimatization and rest, day hikes

16         Climb to Camp 1 (18,500)

17         Climb to Camp 2 (20,000)

18         Climb to Advanced Base Camp (21,500), descend to Camp 2

19         Descend to Base Camp

20         Free day at Base Camp, pack and prepare for departure

21-22    Return to Kathmandu via Zhangmu, Nyalam and Kodari

23         Free day in Kathmandu, shower, relax, final sightseeing

24         Transfer to airport, fly to Bangkok, overnight Bangkok

25         Fly to USA

27         Transfer to airport, fly to Bangkok, overnight Bangkok

37         Free day in Kathmandu, shower, relax, final sightseeing

38         Transfer to airport, fly to Bangkok, overnight Bangkok

39         Fly to USA
