Kevin Dunnett Bio, March 20, 2003
Kevin “Backwoods” Dunnett was brought up in the
small town of Ludlow, Vermont, where Okemo Mtn.
ski area was in his backyard, and Killington Mtn.,
the East Coasts’ largest ski area is just down the
road. Born into a ski family, Kevin was raised on
skis, and ski raced from age 10 through the
collegiate level. Attending College at Colorado
State University in Fort Collins, Kevin made the
easy adaptation to the soft fluffy snow of the
Rockies. |
Amazed that you practically could ski all
year-round in Colorado, Kevin quickly took to the
glories of ski mountaineering. “Skiing was
actually what got me into climbing- I needed
crampons and an ice axe to access the hard spring
snow gullies safely”.
Kevin is an avid rock and ice climber, has made
ski and snowboard descents of peaks in Alaska’s
Coastal Range and the Colorado Rockies, has
competed in the U.S. extreme skiing championships
in Crested Butte Colorado, and has skied from high
places in South America. Kevin has his own
Planning and Landscape Architecture practice in
Aspen.
