1.The communications of the Everest Base Camp and the whole world (color-display report group SOHU China) At 12:00 today, Shengjian Wang, the editor of the backside report group, received the call from Chaoyang Zhang and Mu Zhao (members of the color-display report group of SOHU China), and got the information about the activities of the climbing team and the report group as well as the details of debugging the communication equipments of China Mobile and CCTV.

Wang: Hello Charles! Can you talk of something about the arrangements of the mountaineering team and the color-display report group of SOHU China? How about the members? health conditions since the tour of the report group began?

Chaoyang Zhang: we had been divided into two groups. The members of the first group included Shi Wang, Big Liu, Junchi Chen and so on. They had arrived at the Lhasa Base Camp with the guidance of Shen Luo on March 29, and had got to the 6500m camp now with the next aim of camps at 7790m. I acted as the head of the second group with the important responsibility for communications. Here we cooperated with China Mobile founding the base station and placing the antenna on the suitable position to cover the whole base camp. We second group was called report group. Having arrived at the base camp, we can contact with the team members ahead by call mashine. While they didn't take cell calls, if they did, we can talk to them at the base camp now.

Wang: Is it convenient for the team members and report group to communicate with people outside since the mobile telephone had come into operation in the base camp?

Communicating is really a hard project because of the long distance (over 700 km) between Lhasa and the base camp, the rough mountain road, and serious lack of mobile phone signals. Beijing China Mobile organized an 11-man dapper team. These vigorous members drove a fire-new communicating car and worked all night. Finally the operation of call communication in the base camp was realized at 1:28 p.m. on 25th. This time phone station was established in the base camp. As to data operation, we achieved GPRS communication and we could use internet with notebook PCs. Also, the color graphics could be sent out from the cell call. Thus, we can communicate with the whole world easily and transmit the photos we took.

2.Yongfeng Wang (captain of China SOHU's mountaineering team) and Chaoyang Zhang (vice-captain of China SOHU's mountaineering team) set out from the base camp at the altitude of 5154 meters at 11:54 a.m. yesterday and went ahead to the march-camp at the altitude of 6500 meters. Pictures showed: Chaoyang Zhang's skin was covered by heavy suntan oil before leaving, which is a necessary protection in the hill-climbing program.

3.Chaoyang Zhang showed his greatest respect to doctors and nurses who are fighting against "SARS" in the front line. "Now at the base camp with the altitude of 5200 meters on the Everest, I showed my greatest respect to doctors and nurses who are fighting in the front line against "SARS" on the behalf of SOHU. What you have showed to us are profession moral, courage in the face of danger and great humanitarianism spirit." This is the special note from Chaoyang Zhang (the CEO of SOHU) who is just climbing the Everest. No doubt, it is an almsdeed. Doctors and nurses deserve to own these special notes.

4.Today Yongfeng Wang (captain of the team) and Chaoyang Zhang (vice-captain of the team) set out up the wind (above 8 grade) from the camp lying at the altitude of 5800 meters at 10 a.m.. They arrived at the march-camp lying in the altitude of 6500 meters at 5:30 p.m. Liu Da and Junchi Chen who belonged to Group A met them at the altitude of 6000 meters. The health conditions of Yongfeng Wang and Chaoyang Zhang were good.
