Chinese SOHU Expedition

At 14:37 p.m. on May 22, Shi Wang and Jian Liu (members of China SOHU team-B) succeeded to climb the Everest zenith with the attitude of 8848 meters. After Shen Luo (captain of team-B) succeeded to climb the Everest at 15:30 p.m., he sent a line to greet the friends of SOHU by mobile telephone at the 8848m Zenith. Thus, the activity of color-display on the Everest (originated together by SOHU, China Mobile Data Group and Motorola) ended successfully. At the same time, the communication operation by mobile telephone at the 8848m Zenith was accomplished. SOHU appreciated the members effort to send lines by mobile telephone at the zenith and wished that they would withdraw safely. Jintao Hu (General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of country) called 2003 Chinese Everest mountaineering team and congratulated them on climbing the Everest zenith successfully on May 21.

At the news of SOHU team's climbing the Everest zenith successfully, news office of Beijing municipal government congratulated SOHU and SOHU team ardently. After Chinese mountaineering team climbed the Everest zenith successfully yesterday, Beijing Olympic Organization Committee congratulated them by phone and disclosed that the torch of 2008 Olympic Games was expected to be passed to the Everest. At 14:45 p.m. on May 21, Junchi Chen (member of China SOHU team-A) succeeded to climb the 8848m Everest Zenith. He set out at about 2:00 a.m. and took more than 12 hours to climb the zenith. Qun Liang (a female team member) also succeeded to climb the zenith. Weiwen Li withdrew at the middle of way because of inadequate physical strength.
