Follow along here

The Everest Speed Expedition will have two main "characters" [their word!] who will attempt the ascent with two specific goals.

Manuela Di Centa. Former Italian national athlete of cross country skiing, gold medalist in various Olympic Games and World Championships – now  journalist and popular anchorwoman of Italian Television – will attempt the climb in the classic way; at the same time she will collect news and tell stories about Everest to the italian public with frequent telephone and internet connections .

Fabio Meraldi. Very strong and experienced mountaineer, skyrunner and UIAGM Mountain Guide, winner of many ski-mountaineering competitions in Europe, will attempt a speed, no stop  ascent and descent of Everest, BC to BC within the 24 hours, without oxygen.

The expedition team will also include:

Oskar Piazza. UIAGM Mountain Guide and one of the major experts of the Italian Mountain  heli-rescue, he has long time experience as himalayan climber. He will be responsible of the filming team who will shoot the whole expedition on the mountain.

Dave Rasmussen. From Montana, USA, he’s a filmmaker and cameraman with years long experience of outdoor and mountain filming. He realized many documentaries for networks such as National Geographic Television, BBC, Discovery Channel.

Silvano Odasso. Expert UIAGM Mountain Guide, He collected deep experience in Alps and Himalaya climbing since 1990. He will work as cameraman .

Filippo Sala. Experienced mountaineer and himalayan climber, he will be assistant  cameraman and responsible of the “Energies in Everest Speed Project“ of the expedition. The project will provide “clean” energies to the expedition BC using solar and wind powered devices, allowing the team to work without any  or  with very reduced pollution. Furthermore a study about the global energies involved in a mountain expedition will be held.

Manuel Lugli. Owner and manager of the Infinite Knot, operator with long time experience in the organization of  expeditions and treks in the Himalayas, he is also an experienced mountaineer. He will be the logistical expedition leader and will also work as assistant cameraman.

Pino Leoni. Filmmaker, he will be the consultant for the film production, working on the storyboard.

Paola Pozzi. Mountaineer and member of Italian Mountain Rescue Corp, she has extended experience on rock and ice in the Alps. She will be assistant at the logistics.

The expedition will leave Italy on the 2nd of April and will return back around the 10th of June.
