Everest - a great lesson in life: From the
window of my home here in Bormio, I can see the snow covered summit of the
Cima Bianca at 3,000m, and I recall the Himalayan snows….
We’ve been home for several days now and I’ve
been enjoying the beauty of my homeland. Every time I return, it seems more
beautiful than ever.
I observe the mountains, especially the
Resero, a great pyramid 3,594m high with an allure that distinguishes it from
the others in the Ortles Cevedale range and I see, or rather, feel, the
special beauty of that Mountain….Mount Everest, 8,850m high, a part of nature
among the most beautiful in the world, soul inspiring, filled with emotions,
adventures and stories of LIFE.
I think about what I feel inside, after the
climb, after reaching the summit…and I feel an enormous serenity and pure joy
together with a profound respect for the places on Earth I’ve known and the
people that have shared my experiences.
It’s a special place indeed, a corner of the
planet that never stops to fascinate, to reveal its secrets and, above all, to
give, to those who are able to understand…..a great lesson in life.
