Update 3: Update on MIURA EVEREST EXPEDITION - Apr.
26, 2003
The summit team (Yuichiro,
Gota, Muraguchi) has completed 3rd acclimatization up to 7200m, they have
climbed Lhotse face and reached Camp 3 then returned to camp 2. Spent total of
4 days above ice fall and now they are safely back at Base Camp (5300m) today.
Amazingly, Yuichiro at age of
70, climbed most part of Lhotse face without the support of oxygen up to 7000m
and only used last 100 m and at time of descending the face. All are little
tired but in good condition.
They are scheduled to descend
down to Pheriche (4200m) on the 28th to recover energy in thicker air for few
days to prepare for the summit attempt. Will return to Base Camp around May
3rd and stand by for summit attempt at the best possible weather condition.
